泰語中 Doi 為山,Tung是旗,中文音譯多稱“萊東”。萊東是在泰緬邊境湄公河畔的一座山。山上到處飄揚象徵興盛繁榮,勝利成功的彩旗為泰的一種喜慶習俗。

萊東因靠近泰北清萊省金三角,昔日荒山野嶺,遍地罌粟,後經泰國皇家Doi Tung 發展計劃及皇泰后親臨指導,今朝已變成滿山蔬果,花團錦簇,被稱為泰北小瑞士。

萊東山上除了咖啡,火山豆,手工藝品,還有到處樂天知命,山地子民的笑聲。蘭那王朝最古老的塔就建在萊東山上,是古代泰、緬、寮三國子民的聖地。而近代史上異域孤軍也曾在此鏖戰多年,有的撤台,大多借土養命,化籍為民,解甲歸田。美斯樂、滿星疊、就在萊東山麓。

         Located directly opposite the ChongDe Road Carrefour, this Thai restaurant was once known as Lanna, but now has a new name and focus. Overseas Chinese owner Raymond Chang explains that his former Golden Triangle hometown of Doi Tung ("Flag Mountain") was once an opium-growing region but is now better known as the "Switzerland of Thailand". His authentic cuisine is actually certified as such by the Thai tourism office (as a certificate notes). Chang notes that there are four region-based Thai cooking styles--northern, northeastern, central and southern. Doi Tung offers dishes from all four but understandably focuses more on northern cuisine. Also from the north is something not usually found at other Thai eateries--coffee made with northern Thai beans. Other drinks include Thai Singha Beer and tasty Thai Milk Tea. In addition to an extensive a la carte menu, Doi Tung also offers five to 10 quick Business Lunch options from around NT$200 that include rice, soup and coffee. Some of Doi Tung's many favorites include the pictured Fried Curry Crab (NT$420), plus Papaya Salad (NT$180), Steamed Fish with lemon sauce (NT$350), Deep Fried Chicken with lemon sauce (NT$250), Minced Pork with basil leaves (NT$220), Red or Green Curry Chicken (NT$220), and "Pad Thai" fried noodles with pork and shrimp. Unique to Doi Tung is its version of the classic Chinese dish Stir-Fried Spicy Chicken and Cashew Nuts (NT$250), made with red curry.

       【緣  起】

1980年中秋節, 我們搭乘華航班機從曼谷起程,飛向台北。當全球的華人正在與家人團聚的時候,我們孤獨的懸在三萬英呎的高空,第一次感覺與嫦娥如此接近,而家確那麼遙遠。

    台北,是如此熟悉的陌生。一且食、衣、住、行、娛樂、從人際關係到學校的功課,都得一一學習著去適應。 而最讓我們記憶深刻的當然要算是「吃」的問題了。來自泰國北方的我們,吃慣了泰北食物的酸辣鹹甜,一旦接觸到台灣小吃,頓時覺得少了許多記憶中的味道,每個人的臉上都掛著三條麵線,而唯一感到比較親切的,大概只剩下老闆桌上那碗辣椒醬了。

       在那一美元可兌換40元新台幣的70年代末期, 台北的經濟呈現出一股蓄勢待發的生命力,從大陸延伸來台的大江南北料理隨處可見,美食,尤其會躲藏在傳統市場裡,廟口、夜市、以及低矮的眷村落。 可就是鮮少有泰國料理,偶爾看到同學從家鄉帶來一瓶魚露,幾塊酸辣蝦湯料,大家都如穫至寶,馬上在宿舍起鍋造飯,大打牙祭,邊解饞邊解鄉愁。

     也許就是這樣吧,那種對家鄉食物的眷戀,激發了我們從事泰式料理的動機。一群來自泰北的童年玩伴結合了台灣喜愛泰式料理的好朋友,有人的夢想因此得以實現,有人的事業因此得以昇華。

        泰式料理早已在世界佔有一席之地,在台灣也隨之風起雲湧,當下我們不想缺席,我們端出了蘊藏家鄉記憶的泰式料理,請您一起來分享。
